The map (below) is based on almost 2million car insurance quotes run over the past few months on moneysupermarket.com. It shows the location of people (not where the offence took place) who have got ‘SP30′driving convictions - that’s speeding in a 30 mile an hour zone.
Of course you’d expect the urban areas to be speeding hotspots, but there are some interesting anomalies. Why, for example, is Liverpool so much more of a hotspot than Manchester or Birmingham? Why is Edinburgh less of a hotspot than Glasgow? Newcastle drivers seem to be less inclined to speed than many, but Reading and Brighton, for example, seem hotter than you might expect.
