Allstate Sees Spike in Texas Weather Auto Claims

According to an Associated Press report, Allstate has seen a notable spike in Texas weather-related auto insurance claims.

Specifically, Allstate said they experienced a 50% claim increase in Texas in 2009, primarily in Lubbock, Houston and El Paso. Most of these claims were due to damage from flood, wind and hail.

Texas had $2.45 billion in catastrophe losses in 2009–more than any other state. That represented 23 percent of the $10.57 billion in catastrophe losses nationwide, according to Insurance Services Office data cited by Allstate.
